In November 2023, Amcor Plc, a global leader renowned for designing and producing environmentally friendly packaging materials, reported a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with NOVA Chemicals Corporate, a leading producer of sustainable polyethylene. Amcor under the deal will purchase mechanically recycled polyethylene resin (rPE) from NOVA Chemicals Corporate to be utilized in the production of flexible packaging films. The initiative enables Amcor's vision to drive packaging circularity by scaling up rPE usage in flexible packaging.
In July 2023, Constantia Flexibles introduced the new pharma pack solution REGULA CIRC with the integration of coldform foil. The pack replaces conventional PVC with a PE sealing layer, thus reducing plastic content and increasing aluminum content. This improvement not only increases the sustainability of the packaging but also enhances material recovery in recycling processes.
In April 2023, Südpack launched its PharmaGuard blister, a blister packaging made of polypropylene. The new product provides an exemplary water vapor barrier and barrier resistance against UV and oxygen.
