Industrial burner is the main component used in boilers for combustion control system, which provides the required heat for boilers to convert water into steam. The burner mixes fuel and air together to create combustion process. Burners can be fired on various type of fuels such as natural gas, propane, oil, and coal. The burners in boilers provide many functions such as deliver air and fuel to the combustion chamber, mix fuel and air, ignite and burn the mixture and remove the products of combustion. These types of burners reduce nitrogen oxides (NOx) and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions in the environment.
Market Dynamics
The onset of the 21st century has witnessed numerous technological revolutions in the industrial and manufacturing sectors. Numerous human tasks requiring a skilled workforce have been replaced by automation technology. This has consequently reduced human error. Smart burner systems are a perfect example of automation in the industrial sector. Smart industrial burners have sensors that monitor key burner operating conditions that would otherwise require the presence of an operator. The sensor conveys never-ending monitoring capabilities and access to sensor data along with immediate notification of operating disturbance that would hamper productivity. Smart burners in the manufacturing sector helps to optimize and maintain burner performance, better protect their process, and improve their overall performance in industrial operation. For instance, in October 2016, Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. launched the ‘Cleanfire HRe’ burner, a smart burner specially developed for the glass industry. The burner utilizes sensors that persistently monitor key burner operating conditions.
Growing safety concerns about industrial processes and setting up of global industrial safety standard adoption protocols have subsequently resulted in surging acceptance of burner management systems. Burner management systems (BMS) provide enhanced safety by ensuring an orderly and safe start-up and shutdown of traditional burners. BMS deployment has consequently reduced the operational errors associated with traditional burners by following a sequential and safe operating procedure. Furthermore, BMS improves personnel safety by eliminating the need to access age-old relay boxes situated in high-temperature areas of the boiler. Growing use of burner management systems is expected to drive the global industrial burner market, as these systems are capable of overcoming the safety and other downsides associated with industrial burners.
