Alteogen Signs An Exclusive Agreement With A Global Pharmaceutical Company To Develop And Commercialize A Hybrozyme-Based Subcutaneous Biologic Medicine

Alteogen Inc., a South Korean biopharmaceutical company, has signed an exclusive agreement with a global pharmaceutical company to develop as well as sell as subcutaneous (under-the-skin) biologic medicine using its ALT-B4 technology powered by the Hybrozyme platform. Under the agreement, the partner will receive exclusive global rights to develop and commercialize the new treatment.

Alteogen may receive up to USD 365 million, including an upfront payment and additional payments based on development, regulatory approvals, as well as sales milestones. The company will also earn royalties from future product sales. ALT-B4 (berahyaluronidase alfa) helps convert biologic medicines that are normally given through intravenous (IV) infusion into faster and more convenient subcutaneous injections by improving the absorption of the medicine under the skin.

According to coherent market insights, the Subcutaneous Biologics Market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 8.2% during 2026 to 2033. Currently, the market is at USD 44.8 Bn in 2026 and is expected to be around USD 78.9 Bn by 2033. This market is experiencing steady growth, driven by high prevalence of chronic diseases, increasing adoption of self-administered therapies, as well as a shift from intravenous to subcutaneous delivery for improved patient convenience. Major therapeutic areas include oncology, autoimmune disorders, rare diseases, etc., where biologics offer targeted treatment options. Technological advancements in formulation as well as delivery devices, such as prefilled syringes and auto-injectors, are enhancing safety, efficacy, and patient adherence.

"We are pleased to enter into this license agreement with a global leader with a long-standing commitment to advancing innovative therapies for patients with serious unmet medical needs," said Tae-Yon Chun, Ph.D., CEO of Alteogen. "We will continue to accelerate the growth of our platform technology through strategic global partnerships," he added.
