Amprius Technologies, Inc. has announced the launch of the Amprius Korea Battery Alliance. This strategic partnership focuses on expanding the company’s global presence and speeding up the development of advanced silicon anode battery technology. The alliance builds on Amprius’ existing operations in South Korea, a leading center for lithium-ion battery innovation.
The initiative brings together a variety of Korean companies involved in making lithium-ion batteries. The first members include battery makers, materials suppliers, cell part producers, equipment makers, and investment firms.
Through the alliance, Amprius plans to help its partners with joint projects, including business development and access to advanced technologies. Member companies are already working with Amprius on producing SiCore battery cells, improving electrodes, and making equipment.
According to Coherent Market Insights, the Energy Storage System Market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7.3% from 2025 to 2032. Currently, the market is at USD 52.95 Bn in 2025 and is expected to be around USD 86.76 Bn by 2032. Widespread emphasis on renewable energy sources and the need for effective management of intermittent power supply from renewable sources are accelerating the deployment of energy storage systems. Favorable government policies as well as incentives promoting the adoption of clean energy through energy storage applications will further boost the market growth in the coming years.
“South Korea is home to some of the most advanced battery technologies and manufacturing capabilities in the world,” said Dr. Kang Sun, CEO of Amprius Technologies. “The establishment of the Amprius Korea Battery Alliance marks an important step in expanding Amprius’ global manufacturing footprint and advancing the commercialization of our high-performance silicon anode batteries. Through close collaboration with key partners across Korea’s battery supply chain, we aim to enhance scalability, improve cost efficiency, and strengthen our ability to serve a rapidly growing global customer base.”
Amprius' move in Korea adds to its existing operations in the U.S. and China, making a global network that links research, production, and market access. The alliance aims to strengthen the supply chain to support the global shift to electric vehicles and clean energy.
With contract manufacturing capacity now over 2.0 GWh worldwide, Amprius is expanding its presence in energy storage. The company's SiCore® and SiMaxx™ batteries offer energy densities of up to 450 Wh/kg and 1,150 Wh/L, with third-party tests showing up to 500 Wh/kg and 1,300 Wh/L.
Amprius Technologies, based in Fremont, California, makes high-energy and high-power lithium-ion batteries using its Silicon Anode Platform. The company has a research lab and a manufacturing facility for making silicon anodes and battery cells.
