Dyson introduced three new home appliances in South Korea, including its first AI-powered robot vacuum cleaner. The British company is aiming to grow in a market where Chinese brands dominate.
The new products were shown at an event at The Hyundai Seoul shopping mall in Seoul. The three products are:
- Spot+Scrub AI robot vacuum
- Clean+Wash Hygiene wet vacuum
- Hushjet Purifier Compact air purifier
Dyson wants to strengthen its position in South Korea's competitive home appliance market, where Chinese companies control about 70% of sales.
The Spot+Scrub AI robot vacuum was the main attraction. While Dyson began selling robot vacuums in Korea in 2024, this is the first one with AI technology developed by Dyson itself. The robot can recognize different liquids, like pet waste and coffee spills, and it will clean the area up to 15 times until it's fully clean. It can vacuum and mop at the same time, and it washes the cleaning roller with hot water to stop dirty water from spreading.
The Clean+Wash Hygiene wet vacuum is designed for Korean cleaning habits. A study found that Koreans spend an hour a day cleaning, with 20 minutes spent on wet cleaning. This vacuum removes odors by having a filter-free design, and it can reach tight spaces as small as 4.4 inches.
The Hushjet Purifier Compact air purifier focuses on being very quiet. It uses a noise-reduction system inspired by aircraft engines and makes only 19 decibels of noise, much quieter than normal conversations.
