A new initiative called American Foundations was launched to help increase U.S. cement production and make sure that American infrastructure is built with high-quality, reliable cement.
A project by Common Sense America, American Foundations will raise awareness about the need to improve U.S. cement production to meet demand on its own. Cement is what helps build their communities, so it’s important that only the highest quality cement is used to build our homes, businesses, hospitals, roads, and everything else.
American Foundations is committed to:
- Protecting American Jobs: They want to increase U.S. cement production to protect jobs and help the economy grow.
- Building Stronger Communities: They can’t build their roads, bridges, homes, and buildings with low-quality, foreign-made cement. American businesses, homeowners, and public services rely on high-quality, domestic cement. The American people deserve the best.
- Enhancing National Security: Cement is essential for construction and manufacturing. They need to make their own cement to keep away from relying on poor-quality imports. To keep their infrastructure strong, they must utilize quality American-made cement.
- Maintaining High Standards: Many foreign-made cements don’t provide quality standards, which can be dangerous. To protect workers and the public, we need to support buying policies that ensure a steady supply of reliable, high-quality, American-made cement.
American Foundations, a project of Common Sense America, is dedicated to making sure our country's infrastructure is built with strong, reliable cement made in the U.S.
Executive Statement
According to Steve Crim, President, Common Sense America, strong domestic cement production is essential for their manufacturing independence, national security, and long-term economic growth. They must act swiftly and decisively to ensure that critical infrastructure across the country, from roads, bridges, and airports to homes and schools, stands on resilient, reliable, American-made cement.
