Samsung Biologics plans to buy PolyPeptide with a cash deal. This will help the company grow its business and expand its operations in the U.S., Europe, and India

Samsung Biologics has offered to buy 100% of PolyPeptide, a company that makes peptide-based medicines, for about CHF 1.46 billion in cash. Shareholders will receive CHF 44.31 for each share they own. The deal is expected to be completed by the end of 2026 if shareholders as well as regulators approve it. PolyPeptide's board has recommended that shareholders accept the offer as it believes the deal will aid the company to grow.

By buying PolyPeptide, Samsung Biologics will extend its business from making antibody medicines to also making peptide medicines, which are in high in demand for obesity, diabetes, cancer, and other diseases. PolyPeptide has over 70 years of experience and has produced more than 1,000 therapeutic peptides.

The acquisition will also support the global manufacturing network of Samsung Biologics. PolyPeptide has facilities in Sweden, Belgium, France, the United States, as well as India, along with its headquarters in Switzerland. Together, the two companies aim to offer a wider range of drug development and manufacturing services to customers around the world and support future growth.
