The Indonesia dietary supplements market is expected to exhibit a CAGR of 7.7% during the forecast period, owing to the rising health awareness. For instance, Indonesia is influenced by malnutrition and chronic diseases, especially in children and women. According to World Health Organization (WHO) survey in Indonesia, about 29% of deaths are caused by maternal & perinatal and nutritional deficiencies. Chronic diseases accounted for 61% of deaths at all age levels in Indonesia. Also, the prevalence of overweight, which is an important cause of chronic diseases is projected to increase over the next 10 years in both men and women. Dietary supplements have already proven their importance in curing malnutrition. Doctors also recommend extra nutrition supplements along with a daily diet in case of nutritional deficiencies. Though there is no strong evidence-based data for the efficacy of multivitamins/ mineral supplementation in the primary prevention of chronic diseases, in some cases, dietary supplements are found to be effective. Owing to such prime factors, Indonesia is expected to grow at a significant rate in the dietary supplements market.

On the basis of form, the liquid segment is expected to generate significant revenue till the end of the forecast period. Supplements such as vitamins or minerals are suspended in a liquid (water or alcohol based). This form of supplements is usually used for people suffering from dysphagia. For medicinal supplements for children, liquid form is preferred. In few cases it is flavored to mask the taste of the supplement. Supplements in liquid form have a low shelf life and must be consumed within a stipulated timeframe after opening of the packaging.
