Cambium, a company that makes advanced materials, announced ApexShield 3000, a special coating that can handle very high temperatures for metal and composite parts. It can be used for things like hypersonic flight as well as electronic shielding.
ApexShield 3000 is a sprayable liquid that hardens at 215°C (419°F) and works well up to 315°C (600°F), and can handle short bursts up to 427°C (800°F). It does not need cold storage and is sold in quarts, gallons, and drums, so it can be used for small tests or large production.
The coating can take different fillers, so engineers can change how it works for specific needs. Technical details are on cambiumglobal.com.
Cambium is different because it does everything in one place: discovering new materials, developing products, getting certifications, and making them fast in both the US and Europe.
ApexShield 3000 is part of Cambium’s phthalonitrile materials line, including ApexShield 1000, which made production of carbon-carbon parts 70–80% faster for hypersonic uses.
According to Coherent Market Insights, the High Performance Ceramic Coatings Market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 7.9% during 2026 to 2033. Currently, the market is at USD 14.20 Billion in 2026 and is expected to be around USD 24.18 Billion by 2033. The increasing demand for ceramic coatings from various end-use industries including aerospace and others is driving the market growth. Furthermore, the superior properties of these coatings, such as thermal stability, corrosion, and ear resistance, are expected to boost the demand for high performance ceramic coatings.
"ApexShield 3000 gives engineers a practical, high-performance solution for protecting structures that operate in environments where standard coatings fail," said Cambium CTO, James Griffin. "The combination of sprayable application, room-temperature storage, and validated high-temperature performance makes this a deployable tool for defense and aerospace coating manufacturers working under real production constraints."
