EMCO Industries, a top maker of leaf springs for trailers, farm equipment, RVs, and specialty vehicles, has launched a new High-Performance Mono-Leaf Spring designed for heavy-duty trailers. This 22,400-pound-rated spring aims to solve long-standing supply chain issues that have made it hard for trailer manufacturers and distributors to find this important part.
With ongoing trade uncertainties and tariffs on foreign suppliers, EMCO's new spring offers a solution. It’s 25% lighter than traditional leaf springs (dropping from 53 pounds to 40 pounds) but still meets or exceeds industry performance standards, including the Truck Trailer Manufacturers Association's B-10 fatigue life requirements.
The new mono-leaf spring is ideal for applications that need lower suspension clearance, like container chassis, flatbed trailers, and drive-on trailers. It will be available in both low-arch and high-arch versions, with the low-arch version expected to be the most popular based on customer feedback.
The launch coincides with EMCO nearing completion of a new 30,000-square-foot automated factory, which will more than double its production capacity and improve delivery times by combining robotics with skilled workers.
Executive Statement
According to Marcus Hester, president of EMCO Industries, in today’s environment of supply chain uncertainty, they are providing reliability. Fueled in part by demand and by their track record of on- time delivery, they have seen a lot of customer enthusiasm. They are seizing this opportunity and are doubling down on their commitment to domestic automotive manufacturing with a significant multimillion dollar investment in automation and expanded capacity.
According to Joel Schubach, chief operating officer and owner of Pratt Industries, they have been urging EMCO to develop a mono-leaf spring and they are thrilled that they’ve done it. Their commitment to using U.S. steel and investing in a state-of-the-art automated facility right here in America demonstrates exactly what they need more of in this industry. EMCO has proven they will deliver when they say they will deliver, and that’s one less factor, for their production folks to worry about.
