
Karri Koskela, chief executive of Wipak, has been chosen to become the chair of Flexible Packaging Europe (FPE), the industry association of more than 80 companies in the flexible packaging industry within Europe.

He took over from Jakob A Mosser, who served for five years. Michele Guala was re-elected vice-chair.
Koskela comes with over two decades of global leadership experience in packaging. At Wipak and its parent company, Wihuri Packaging, he has specialized in sustainable and innovative packaging. He is involved in several industry forums and supervisory boards as well.
Referring to his election, Koskela stated: "I am pleased to have the confidence and privilege to support the association through a period of dramatic change for the industry. With the member companies, we will further develop flexible packaging with emphasis on the circular economy, innovation, and market expansion.
The flexible packaging industry is projected to grow at a 5.5% CAGR in the years 2025-2032, states Coherent Market Insights. USD 314.54 Bn in 2025 will increase to approximately USD 457.85 Bn in 2032. Food & beverage demand is driving the size of the market.
Koskela goes on to say, "I would also like to express my appreciation for Jakob Mosser's leadership through two quite trying and defining moments for our business – the Covid-19 pandemic and the current policy process on the PPWR. His dedication has added significantly to FPE's robust positioning.
