Haitai Confectionery & Foods is partnering with top potato chips company of Japan, Calbee, to sell Sushi Potato Chips in South Korea for the first time. On July 6, the company launched Salmon Sushi Flavor potato chips. The chips are made to taste like salmon sushi with wasabi and soy sauce. They are the second product in the "Taste of Japan in Korea" series, after the Yakiniku flavor.
Calbee potato chips are gaining more popular in South Korea owing to their unique Japanese flavors. After the brand got into the Korean market in 2024, its market share exceeded by more than five times in 2025.
The new chips are made with real salmon seasoning, wasabi, and soy sauce to give a sushi-like taste. They are made using fresh potatoes grown in South Korea during the local potato harvest season.
