Intelligent Power launched its new Wide Temp battery, a top-grade LiFePO₄ battery built for extreme outdoor temperature conditions. With the help of a special anode as well as an electrolyte mix, it can function from –40°F to +185°F (–40°C to +85°C) without needing heaters, insulation, or rather complex temperature control.
This makes Intelligent Power a prominent competitor in high-temperature energy storage, overtaking rivals in cold-climate battery strength. The Wide Temp Series is now available for customers in North America.
The technology is ideally suited for:
- Mobile Surveillance & Security — oil & gas, construction, law enforcement, and retail sectors
- Outdoor Recreation & Adventure — RVs, snowmobiles, remote cabins, and backcountry applications
- Weather & Research Stations — off-grid solar power in extreme climates
- Transportation Infrastructure — highway cameras, radar systems, and traffic monitoring stations
Executive Statement
According to Glenn Jakins, CEO of Intelligent Power, this is a major leap forward for all-season battery power. Their patented chemistry erases temperature barriers that have limited the reach of off-grid energy. Customers can now deploy reliable solar and battery solutions anywhere, from Alaska’s Arctic conditions to the heat of Death Valley, without compromise.
According to Dan Wilding, Staff Product Manager for LiveView Technologies (LVT), this new wide-temperature battery extends their ability to deploy reliable security solutions into harsher environments. Intelligent Power provides a reliable energy backbone for critical infrastructure and security.
