Kakao has introduced ChatGPT within its messaging app, KakaoTalk, allowing users to access AI-powered conversations directly. Kakao had announced its collaboration with OpenAI in February, marking the first outcome of their joint efforts.
The company organized a press briefing at its headquarters in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, and announced that it will sequentially roll out ‘ChatGPT for Kakao’ to users starting on the 28th, enabling ChatGPT access within KakaoTalk.
With this new feature update, KakaoTalk users can avail the latest version of ChatGPT by tapping the ‘ChatGPT’ button at the top of the Chat tab. Kakao is also launching an AI agent called ‘Kakao Tools,’ which allows users to access various services provided by the Kakao Group through ChatGPT.
Executive Statement
According to Yoo Yong-ha, the leader of Kakao’s AI Agent Platform Performance, Kakao and OpenAI formed a strategic partnership in February and have intensively discussed over the past few months to achieve our shared mission of creating a service that deeply understands Korean users. This service is the result of that effort. Without needing to download a separate app, users can access ChatGPT directly through KakaoTalk starting on the 28th. The biggest advantage is the high accessibility, as users can immediately utilize ChatGPT within KakaoTalk, which they use dozens of times a day.
