Lockheed Martin introduced the Lamprey Multi-Mission Autonomous Undersea Vehicle (MMAUV), a new, easy-to-use submersible that gives the U.S. and allied military an advantage in today's competitive sea operations.
Designed to meet the U.S. Navy's need for secret, reliable access and sea control, the Lamprey MMAUV can arrive fully charged and ready for action. It can travel with a surface ship or submarine, charge its battery while in transit, and be ready for missions once it arrives. The Lamprey MMAUV can perform many tasks, including delivering effects undersea and in the air, gathering intelligence, and deploying equipment to the ocean floor.
By offering continuous, autonomous undersea presence at a much lower cost than manned speciality vehicles, the Lamprey MMAUV helps control areas of the sea and the seafloor.
The Lamprey MMAUV reflects Lockheed Martin's years of experience in undersea technology and its focus on creating innovations that give the U.S. and its allies a strong advantage in military operations.
Executive Statement
According to Paul Lemmo, vice president and general manager of Sensors, Effectors & Mission Systems at Lockheed Martin, tmodern battlespace demands platforms that hide, adapt and dominate. LampreyMMAUV was internally funded, letting them iterate at lightning speed and hand the Navy a true multi mission weapon that detects, disrupts, decoys and engages on its own.
