May 13, 2025 – OFI, a prominent leader in natural food and beverage ingredients and solutions, officially opened its cutting-edge soluble coffee facility in Linhares, Espirito Santo, Brazil. This launch represents a significant expansion of the company’s manufacturing capabilities.
The strategic investment will strengthen OFI’s position as one of the top three independent producers in the expanding global soluble coffee market. It is also expected to generate significant economic benefits in Brazil’s premium coffee-growing region.
Linhares facility, situated at the center of Brazil’s Conilon coffee regions, will be used to process coffee beans sourced from the company’s coffee units across Brazil into premium soluble products. It is designed to serve a global network of customers.
Linhares’ site features two fully equipped lines of spray-dried and freeze-dried instant coffee. This helps ensure optimal production efficiency and resource utilization. The new facility will help the company to meet growing demand for high-quality coffee products in Brazil and other regions.
Views and Statements
OFI’s new facility also aligns with the company’s sustainability goals. In the words of Vivek Verma, OFI’s Managing Director and CEO of coffee, “Inauguration of Linhares facility represents a triple win for our customers, local communities, and the environment.”
He further added, “By processing coffee at its origin, we enhance our integrated supply chain and strengthen partnerships with farmers, ensuring the delivery of traceable and sustainable soluble coffee products to our customers.”
While commenting on the occasion, Espirito Santo’s governor, Renato Casagrande, said, “Inauguration of the new soluble coffee factory in Linhares is undoubtedly a milestone for the development of Espirito Santo, and our state takes pride in welcoming sustainable and cutting-edge ventures like OFI’s.”
OFI’s state-of-the-art soluble infrastructure centered on value-added coffee products will create growth opportunities across South and North America, while also catering to consumer markets in Europe and Asia. OFI selected the Linhares site due to the abundant Conilon coffee production in the Espirito Santo region.
Linhares site enhances OFI's current soluble coffee processing operations in Spain and Vietnam. Sustainability remains at the core of OFI’s new facility. It runs on 100% renewable electricity and utilizes biomass boilers that convert coffee production waste into energy, thereby reducing the carbon footprint of the company and its customers.
The new facility features advanced technologies for producing soluble coffee products. Beans used in the facility are fully traceable, and the soluble coffee produced is certified by the Rainforest Alliance.
Impact and Future Outlook
Inauguration of OFI’s new soluble coffee plant in Linhares is set to significantly enhance the company’s global market presence. It will also contribute to the economic development of Brazil’s premium coffee region.
Usage of advanced technology and sustainable practices highlights growing trends in the broader coffee industry. The new facility will boost production capacity for high-quality coffee products. It will also help the company address growing demand for coffee products in key global markets.
OFI’s investment in the Linhares facility is expected to drive further expansion across South and North America. It will also encourage other companies to expand their presence in attractive regions through new facility expansions.
