Polestar, a Swedish electric vehicle company, will release two new cars in South Korea this year: the Polestar 3, a midsize SUV, as well as the Polestar 5, a high-performance sedan. The company aims to boost its sales by 35%, aiming for 4,000 cars sold this year. This initiative is part of their strategy to alter from a premium to a luxury brand in the market.
At the 2026 Polestar Media Day in Seoul, Ham Jong-seong, head of Polestar Korea, said the company focuses on becoming a leading luxury electric vehicle brand, focused on performance and innovation.
Polestar, which only sold the Polestar 4 last year, will add to its lineup with the Polestar 3 and the Polestar 5. The Polestar 3 comes in two versions: a single motor with 272 horsepower as well as a dual motor with 544 horsepower, reaching 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. It can travel up to 635 km on a single charge and will be available in the third quarter of the year.
The Polestar 5 is a high-performance model with up to 884 horsepower and a torque of 1,015 Nm. It has a range of 678 km per charge and will be launched in the third quarter with deliveries in the fourth quarter.
While Polestar didn’t reveal prices, they promised to offer competitive pricing without using heavy discounts, to maintain their brand image and value. They also plan to advance the customer experience by expanding charging stations as well as showrooms, and launching a new Polestar Owner Application for easy service management. They have chosen actor Kim Woo-bin as an ambassador to help promote the brand and create a luxury image.
