RiceTec and Horizon Ag to Release New ACCase Rice Varieties in 2026

Rice farmers who use ACCase or IMI herbicides to fight weed resistance can look forward to new rice varieties and more seed options in 2026. Two companies, RiceTec and Horizon Ag, shared what farmers can expect for the upcoming season.

At RiceTec, Garrison Hardke, U.S. marketing manager, talked about the Max-Ace Cropping Solution with ACCase technology and the FullPage Cropping Solution with IMI technology. Meanwhile, Horizon Ag’s CEO, Tim Walker, discussed their Provisia Rice System with ACCase technology and the Clearfield Rice System with IMI technology.

RiceTec’s Plans for 2026

  • Max-Ace Hybrid Production
    • RiceTec focused on increasing the production of Max-Ace hybrids last season, so there will be more seeds available for 2026. This is the first year with a large increase in supply, which means more farmers can get the hybrid varieties they need. Max-Ace hybrids are important, especially in places like southern Louisiana, where ACCase rice is needed to fight weeds. This technology is also expanding northward into the Midsouth.
  • New RiceTec Products for 2026
    • RT7531 MA: This is a standout Max-Ace hybrid, but it will likely sell out quickly.
    • RT7302 MA: A new long-grain hybrid replacing the popular XP753, known for being the highest-yielding rice in the U.S. RT7302 performs even better, with higher yields, better milling quality, and better market alignment.
    • RT7301 MA: A conventional long-grain rice with similar performance to XP753, giving RiceTec more flexibility in future seed production.

FullPage Rice Varieties

  • RT7521 FP: This rice will be the most widely planted FullPage hybrid. It has been the top long-grain rice variety in the U.S. for the last five years.
  • RT3202 FP: A medium-grain rice with good early maturity, strong standability, and a yield advantage. It is gaining popularity and is expected to be fully accepted once it gets approval from Kellogg.

These new varieties from RiceTec and Horizon Ag are designed to help farmers grow rice more efficiently while addressing herbicide resistance and other farm machineries.
