Start2 Group, Inc. has launched STRIDE Ventures, a new initiative funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) to support important new innovations. The goal of STRIDE Ventures is to help the U.S. maintain its leadership in technology, economy, and industry by turning promising research into real-world solutions, effectively applying innovation management strategies to accelerate the development of cutting-edge technologies.
STRIDE Ventures will give funding, expert advice, and partnerships to help develop technologies that can be used on a larger scale. This will help bring radical innovations to market faster, helping the country tackle big challenges using new technologies.
STRIDE Ventures' first investment is the Tech Metal Transformation Challenge. This challenge will provide funding and support to develop new technologies that will strengthen the U.S. supply chain for important metals used in industries like energy, defense, manufacturing, and digital technology.
These metals are critical for modern industries, but most of them come from only a few regions, which makes the U.S. vulnerable to supply problems caused by political or logistical issues.
The goal is to move away from conventional ways of extracting metals and instead focus on innovative methods that make the U.S. less reliant on foreign sources. By turning waste as well as other non-traditional materials into usable metals, the program aims to create a strong and reliable foundation for industries now and in the future.
The challenge will take place over several years in three stages. It is modeled after Germany’s SPRIND Tech Metal Challenge, which also helps find innovative solutions to big problems. Teams will receive funding and expert advice as they develop their ideas and bring them to market.
