At this year’s MD&M West, Velosity opened its new Velosity Engineering, Launch, and Optimization Lab in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. This lab will help speed up the development and launch of medical devices. It’s designed to improve part performance and build stronger partnerships with customers in the medtech and aerospace and defense industries.
The lab will also help Velosity solve issues that came up when development was done on production machines. The old machines caused delays and weren't very flexible. The new lab fixes this by giving a dedicated space for early development, helping designs move quickly from idea to production.
Key benefits of the new lab include:
- Faster product launches: With dedicated equipment, it lowers time for samples from 4-6 months to just 2-3 weeks.
- Ongoing improvements: It allows improvements to be made to existing parts without putting a stop to the normal production process.
- Stronger customer relationships: It aids in building trust with customers and shows Velosity’s focus on quality and speed.
The lab is equipped with advanced machines, like Citizen Swiss machines as well as 3-, 4-, and 5-axis vertical mills, as well as high-tech tools for precise measurements. This multi-million-dollar investment will help Velosity stay competitive and support its growth in the medical and defense markets.
Executive Statement
According to Dave Hemink, Velosity chief executive officer, this investment demonstrates Velosity’s commitment to helping their customers succeed. By creating a dedicated development environment, they are not just improving speed and efficiency they are raising the standard for customer trust, collaboration, and innovation.
