General Atomics AeroTec Systems (GA-ATS), the German company behind the Do228 NXT, is using the Singapore Airshow to start a global tour showcasing their aircraft. This event marks the beginning of an international trade fair journey, timed with the final assembly of the first Do228 NXT aircraft.
For those watching in Singapore, it’s clear: after several years of rebuilding the project, the Do228 NXT is now moving from development to real market engagement.
Why 2026 is important for GA-ATS and the Do228 NXT
2026 is a key year for GA-ATS. Production of the Do228 NXT has started in Germany, and the first aircraft is almost ready for presentation later this year. Two aircraft are in the final stages of assembly, and they should be completed by spring, with deliveries starting soon after.
Instead of waiting for the first aircraft to be finished, GA-ATS has decided to begin promoting the Do228 NXT at the Singapore Airshow, which runs from February 3 to 8. This is the first of six major events where the company will showcase the aircraft, with additional appearances planned in Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Austria, Chile, and Germany.
As per Coherent Market Insights, the Aerospace and Defense Market will grow at a 8.2% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2025 to 2032, from USD 846.94 Bn in 2025 to around USD 1,470.43 Bn by 2032. The market is seeing the use of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data analytics, and unmanned systems, improving operational efficiency and combat capabilities. Also, there is a growing focus on sustainability with investments in fuel-efficient aircraft and green technologies.
“Our company, General Atomics AeroTec Systems, will start an international trade fair tour, not the aircraft,” Alexander Vogl, marketing manager at GA-ATS, told AGN. “The tour refers to six trade fair participations this spring. The first Do228 NXT aircraft is also in the final steps of assembly and will be officially presented later this year.”
