
MediaTek has announced that it is partnering with DENSO to introdue a custom automotive chip (System-on-Chip or SoC) for Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) and cockpit systems. This partnership integrates DENSO’s expertise in vehicle safety as well as integration with MediaTek’s technology, which includes their Dimensity AX chips. The collaboration focuses on three main areas to improve ADAS:
- Safety, Reliability, and Compliance: With DENSO’s experience in automotive safety, the new SoC will meet ISO 26262 standards, making sure high levels of safety for the vehicle’s systems. It will also support AEC-Q100 qualification, which ensures the chip can manage tough automotive driving situations.
- AI and Perception Technology: MediaTek brings strong AI processing power, with special AI/NPU accelerators and advanced image processing (ISP) technology. The chip will support multi-sensor fusion, which means it can work with data from cameras, radar, as well as lidar to improve the car’s awareness of its surroundings.
- Faster Development and Market Launch: The partnership targets to speed up the build-up process, utilizing pre-tested automotive technologies that cater to ISO 26262 and AUTOSAR standards. This helps to deliver better quality and a faster time to market for automotive manufacturers.
