Palantir has started a new project called Chain Reaction to help build AI infrastructure in the United States. The project aims to improve the country's Artificial Intelligence technology, and its founding partners include CenterPoint Energy and NVIDIA. These companies will work together to support the growth of AI in America.
The main challenge for AI progress is no longer the algorithms but the power and computing needed to run them. Right now, the U.S. is at a key moment in improving its energy infrastructure, and this needs new software designed for a much larger scale. Chain Reaction is a project created to speed up the development of AI by working with energy producers, power distributors, data centers, and infrastructure builders to:
- Upgrade old power systems so they can meet AI’s huge energy needs.
- Stabilize and expand the power grid to handle the growing demand from data centers and electric systems.
- Speed up the construction of new energy generation, transmission, and computing capacity.
- Create and build future large-scale data centers that can support the heavy demands of AI.
The project is supported by founding partners CenterPoint Energy and NVIDIA.
Executive Statement
According to Tristan Gruska, Palantir’s Head of Energy and Infrastructure, the energy infrastructure buildout is the industrial challenge of their generation. But the software that the sector relies on was not built for this moment. They have spent years quietly deploying systems that keep power plants running and grids reliable. Chain Reaction is the result of building from the ground up for the demands of AI.
