Advanced wound care products are used by healthcare practitioners. It is a therapeutic approach for encouraging effective wound healing process. Advanced wound care management treatment uses moisture therapy, which provides moist microenvironment that stimulates the natural healing process. The products used in the moist wound care include film and foam dressings, hydrogels, alginates, and hydrocolloids. This therapy besides maintaining hydrated environment, also keeps the temperature consistent, allows flow of oxygen, removes dead tissue, protects the site from exogenous infection, and eases the pain associated with dressing changes.
The global advanced wound care management market was estimated to be valued at US$ 10,911.2 million in 2019 and is expected to exhibit a CAGR of 6.8% over the forecast period (2019-2027).

Trauma is serious injury to the body, it may be blunt force trauma, when an object with force strikes the body that causes deep cuts, broken bones or it can be penetrating trauma, in which striking object pierces body to create open wound. Trauma, which causes skeletal injury is associated with number of causes such as road accident, fall injury or act of violence. The increasing number of trauma associated with road accidents and other causes are expected to propel growth of the advanced wound care management market. Road accidents is the leading cause of the trauma. For instance, according to the World Health Organization factsheet 2018, road accidents causes around 20 and 50 million injuries every year, across the globe. Also according to the same reference road traffic injuries are the leading cause of death among people aged between 15 and 29 years, over 1.25 million people die each year as a result of road traffic crashes. Moreover, according to the Global Burden of Disease report published by Lancet in 2015, road injuries is one of leading cause amongst 20 causes of the disease burden, worldwide.
The increasing prevalence of diabetes causing diabetes foot ulcers is expected to boost the global advanced wound care management market growth during the forecast period. For instance, according to the North West Coast Strategic Clinical Networks of National Health Services' report of 2017, around 4.5 million people had diabetes in the U.K. alone. According to the same source, around 200,000 diabetes patients had diabetic foot ulcers in 2017 in the U.K. Furthermore, over 64,000 people with diabetes in England and Wales are estimated to have foot ulcers at any given time.
The increasing expansion strategies by market players is expected to bolster the advanced wound care management market growth over the forecast period. For instance, in June 2017, AHA Hyperbarics GmbH, announced to launch its subsidiary, AHA Hyperbarics USA, Inc., in the U.S., in order to expand its business and offerings.
However, high cost of products associated with the treatment of chronic wounds is one of the factors, which is expected to hamper growth of the advanced wound care management market over the forecast period. For instance, according to report published by the College of Podiatric Medicine, in 2015, around 9%-20% of patients in the U.S with diabetic foot ulcers required hospitalization. Furthermore, it also stated that the cost of treatment of diabetic foot ulcers increases with age.

Advanced Wound Care Management Market - Regional Analysis
North America held a dominant position in the global advanced wound care management market in 2018, owing to increasing product launches by the market players. For instance, in September 2019, Smith+Nephew, launched PICO 7Y Single Use Negative Pressure Wound Therapy System (sNPWT) with AIRLOCK Technology in the U.S., which allows treatment of two wounds simultaneously. The system designed for use on surgical incisions, chronic, and acute wounds.
Asia Pacific is an emerging region in the advanced wound care management market. This is owing to increasing number of global players tapping in the region. For instance, in January 2016, Avita Medical Ltd. signed a distribution agreement with INDEE Medical for distribution of ReCell Device, a medical device used in conjunction with conventional treatments for burns and reconstructive procedures in Japan. Similarly, in January 2015, Mundipharma started distribution of Medifoam (also known as BETAplast in South East Asia) in South Asia markets such as Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam including China, and South Korea.
