Bacterial Filter Market – Market Insights

Bacterial filters are water and air purifiers, which prevents a range of pathogens to enter water or air. The pore size of bacterial filter membrane ranges from 0.5-5 μm in diameter. The bacterial filter restricts the passage of bacteria through the membrane. Bacterial filters are used majorly in homecare and hospitals settings, in order to reduce bacterial counts from patients' exhaled air.

Depending upon the size of the filtrate, the filtration process in bacterial filters is carried out through techniques such as microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, and others. The micro-filtration process allows filtration of particles that are smaller than 0.1 microns. Ultrafiltration is a membrane filtration technique and is known as reverse osmosis. It is used for removing suspended particles (0.01 to 1.0 microns) including bacteria, viruses, other parasites from water. Nanofiltration removes microbial particles as well as organic ions such as chlorides or sodium, and Natural Organic Matter (NOM). Nanofiltration filters have a pore size of around 0.001 micron.
