Anko Food Machine Company unveiled the world's first, according to it, automated mechanism for producing traditional Punjabi samosas.
Handmade is the mechanism traditionally used to create Punjabi samosas, a process that provides true texture and shape, but one that is tough to make at a large scale.
Anko said its new device, the PS-900, remedies the dilemma of mechanizing the demands of the delicate stuffing process, aimed at filling the gap between hand-made quality and scalable efficiency.
Based on Volza's export statistics worldwide, between November 2023 and October 2024, the world exported 5,503 shipments of Punjabi samosas, up by 9% from the previous year. In India, 60 million samosas are eaten daily, and the dish is fast becoming popular in other large markets such as the UK, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Australia, and the US.
Anko's semi-automatic equipment can make between 900 samosas per hour, and only two workers are needed at the forming process. It has FDA-compatible contact surfaces and a simple-to-clean design with an efficient workflow that allows small to medium-sized companies to increase gradually without having to make huge team expansions.
As per coherent market insights, the food & beverage processing machinery industry is expected to increase at a CAGR of 5.7% between 2025 and 2032. The market is anticipated to be USD 72.13 Bn in 2025 and expected to be USD 106.39 Bn by 2032. Market size is driven by increasing demand for packaged food & beverage as a result of altering lifestyles and hectic schedules among consumers.
Richard Ouyang, general manager at Anko, said: “Now that it’s ready, we’re proud to say this machine writes a new chapter in food automation”.
The launch follows the recent introduction of Anko’s modular empanada-making machine, which enables the production of 3,000 empanadas per hour.
