UK bakery goods producer Finsbury Food Group has launched the first item in a new alliance with UK sweet manufacturer, Swizzels: the Squashies Drumstick Celebration Cake.
Merging the raspberry and milk flavor of the Drumstick Squashies with the excitement of celebration cakes at home, the new product captures the trend for nostalgia in F&B. Conceived as a cake-and-sweets combination, each box features a full-sized celebration cake and a mini bag of Squashies sweets that allow consumers to decorate the cake themselves at home, ideal for celebration occasions.
According to coherent market insights, the frosting and icing industry will grow at a substantial CAGR during 2025-2032. The size of the market is expected to expand at a high rate during the study period. Market size is driven by rising demand for pastries and cakes.
Merging a soft sponge base with matching flavor frosting to the original Drumstick Squashies, the cake offers followers of the treat an 'instantly recognizable taste experience' in a new way, stated Finsbury in a press release.
According to the two companies, this launch marks the first in a longer pipeline of planned products set to be launched through the partnership. Squashies are one of Swizzels' most popular confectionery brands, valued at £53 million with 12% growth in 2023, and enjoys appeal across all age groups.
The collaboration of the businesses brings together Finsbury's tradition of manufacturing licensed birthday celebration cakes for a number of the UK's best-known brands and Swizzels' taste recognition and nostalgic value.
The new cake is rolling out in Tesco stores nationwide this month.
