UK sports Nutrition Company MyProtein has widened its range of clear whey proteins with the introduction of Clear Whey Splash Of, describing it as its 'lightest-tasting' clear protein to date.
The brand states that the new protein powder makes a 'sweet, flavoursome and light' drink when mixed with water. It contains 20g of protein and less than 90 calories per serving and is being launched in three fruit flavours: raspberry and lemon, orange and mango, and pineapple.
MyProtein's new addition to its clear whey range, which provides a juice-like alternative to its usual milky protein drinks, is formulated to be more refreshing and easier to swallow with a 'subtler, cleaner' flavour.
The beverage is also low in sugar content and naturally sweetened, as opposed to artificial ingredients. A study conducted by Mintel reveals that 65% of British consumers actively attempt to exclude artificial sweeteners and flavourings from their shopping.
In what is said to be a UK sports nutrition industry first, the new Clear Whey Splash Of uses plant-based sweeteners monk fruit and stevia to provide a more natural taste, as opposed to the more intense notes commonly associated with clear protein drinks.
It also uses a new protein formula with lower acidity, removing the aftertaste associated with other clear protein supplements and having a lighter, less acidic taste.
According to coherent market insights, the whey protein concentrate industry will grow at a 5.6% CAGR during 2025-2032. The market size is USD 4.12 Bn in 2025 and is anticipated to grow by around USD 6.03 Bn in 2032. Market size is driven by growing consumer demand for health-enhancing products.
Clear whey isolate is a rapidly expanding part of the broader sports nutrition industry, which is expected to increase from $456 million worldwide in 2024 to more than $830 million by 2034. This is fueled by increasing demand for invigorating high-protein beverages and cleaner labels.
Neil Mistry, THG Nutrition CEO and owner of MyProtein's parent company, said: "By using natural sweeteners such as monk fruit and stevia, we are at the vanguard of providing clean, highly concentrated supplements that don't sacrifice flavour or quality. That is the future of protein."
Clear Whey Splash Of will become available to UK and EU consumers from 28 July 2025 online, with retail release to follow.
