VTEC (Veterans Training Empowerment Center), a nonprofit organization, is tackling the challenge of finding skilled workers by making the VTEC National Military Training & Hiring Campus at Fort Gillem. The campus will train and connect transitioning service members, veterans, National Guard and Reserve members, and military spouses with employers across various industries.
This campus will centralize training, credentialing, as well as hiring, streamlining what is often a disconnected and inefficient process for military-connected job seekers. Over the next five years, VTEC plans to train and place more than 10,000 military-connected individuals and support over 700 jobs through the campus and its partners. This brings employers a consistent and reliable source of pre-trained, job-ready talent.
The Fort Gillem campus will provide a centralized location where employers can engage with military members, veterans, and spouses all at once, simplifying recruitment. Employers will have access to candidates who have completed industry-aligned corporate workforce development training programs, which will allow them to lower administrative workload and speed up the hiring process.
VTEC manages all training programs, from curriculum development to equipment and onboarding preparation, which means employers won’t have to develop their own internal training systems. The approach also supports the inclusion of military spouses, who bring valuable experience as well as adaptability to the workforce.
The Fort Gillem campus is expected to have a major impact, creating more than 700 job opportunities and supporting employers locally, nationally, as well as internationally. With pilot programs showing success at Fort Benning, VTEC is ready to help employers quickly hire skilled, trained workers while providing military families with steady job opportunities.
