Organic Baby Foods Offer Higher Levels of Nutrients Such As Vitamins, Minerals, and Antioxidants

Organic baby food is a popular item on the market today. This type of food can be purchased in stores, online and at farmer's markets. This type of food is becoming more common because studies have been conducted which indicate that it may provide several health benefits for your child. Organic foods are generally grown without pesticides or other chemicals used in other growing methods. Organic food feeding can limit his or her exposure to certain chemicals used in conventional farming.

Organic foods also do not contain traces of herbicides, antibiotics or growth promoters. Studies do indicate that organic baby foods provide major health benefits. Studies indicate that many of the fruits and vegetables that are organic have higher levels of nutrients such as vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Experts suggest that you begin introducing organic baby foods at approximately six months of age. Your baby should be able to consume foods from three stages, which are pulp, juice and stalks, so this can be a simple process. The three stages are important because they provide the baby with the building blocks of life: protein, carbohydrates and fiber. It is recommended that you begin preparing organic baby foods at home rather than at the hospital so there are no chances of accidentally eating contaminated foods. At approximately six months of age, it is also beneficial for you to begin preparing raw foods so you can provide your baby with the proper nourishment.

In addition to fruits and vegetables, you will want to start introducing cereals and protein-rich foods such as eggs, fish and cow's milk. One great way to get your baby started with these types of foods is baby cereals. There are a variety of baby cereals available in different flavors. Just as there are various cereals available, so are there various kinds of solids that are widely available as well. Pureed or chopped vegetables are very popular as they are not only nutritious, but they taste great too. You can make vegetable purees using carrots, celery, asparagus, beans, peas, spinach, broccoli, cucumber, radishes and tomatoes. You may even toss in some avocados, peas, onions and olives to round out your nutrient-rich puree.

There are several flavors and blends that can easily be added to organic baby food for toddlers and older babies. Many parents start out with flavor blends that are mild and sweet, so they are not too overwhelming. These include: balsamic, apple, blueberry, chocolate, coconut, carrot, pecan, strawberry and white peppercorn. In addition to the wide available fresh products that are already in stores, there are a wide variety of snacks that are widely available as well. These snacks are designed for smaller amounts and they usually have only a few nutrients in them. However, this is not to say that healthy snacks are not available! Organic baby food for toddlers and older babies are commonly found in many health food stores as well as in department stores and even some supermarkets. They are widely available in baby food jars, in individual snack sized packages and in larger sizes as pouches.

Recently studies have reported presence of toxic heavy metals in baby foods. It is thus recommended to buy baby food from trusted brands.
