The global agrochemical industry is constantly evolving with key players employing different strategies to stay ahead. From the launch of new biofertilizers to the development of RNAi-based biopesticides, the target industry is witnessing a rapid transformation.
In April 2023, Bayer AG announced that it would launch new bioinsecticides for arable crops in 2028. It signed an agreement with UK-based AlphaBio Control to gain exclusive rights to market the first-ever biological insecticides.
The novel bioinsecticides will help farmers to control pests in arable crops without impacting the environment. Their adoption is expected to grow rapidly as governments continue to introduce strict restrictions on synthetic pesticides.
In February 2025, ADAMA, a prominent crop protection company, launched three new fungicide co-formulations in the United Kingdom. These include MAGANIC, AVASTEL, and MAXENTIS. All these new fungicides contain the active ingredient prothioconazole. The former two fungicides also feature ADAMA’s AsorbitalTM formulation technology to provide faster protection against key oilseed rape and cereal diseases.
In December 2024, ADAMA revealed its plan to introduce Gilboa, a novel fungicide Active Ingredient. The new formulation will target key cereal and rape diseases, including Ramularia, Septoria, and Sclerotinia. Similarly, in November 2024, the company opened its new chloralkali production facility. The new plant will supply essential components for ADAMA’s popular active ingredients, Folpet and Captan, used for fungicides to protect crops.
In June 2024, Sipcam Oxon SPA acquired Phyteurop SA. This acquisition will help the company to ensure continued access to a wide range of solutions, including traditional and innovative agrochemicals, biostimulants, and fertilizers, for French agriculture.
These developments reflect the industry’s evolution towards sustainability and efficiency. Introduction of biological and eco-friendly alternatives, like that of Bayer’s, aligns well with increasing regulatory pressures and consumer demand for sustainable agricultural practices.
Innovations in fungicide technology and crop protection contribute to improved yield, ensuring global food security. Similarly, strategic acquisitions and new facility establishments reinforce supply chain stability and fuel industry expansion.
According to Coherent Market Insights (CMI), the global agrochemicals industry is set to exhibit a CAGR of 6.2%, totaling around US$ 123.8 billion by 2030. Rising demand for food products and growing interest in eco-friendly agrochemicals will likely play a key role in this future growth.
As the world population continues to expand, there is an increasing demand for food products. This is prompting farmers to use various agrochemicals. Their rising adoption is expected to boost sales growth.
Farmers are also shifting their preference towards eco-friendly agrochemicals to reduce their environmental impact. As a result, demand for biological fertilizers and pesticides is set to increase rapidly.
