Anti-histamine and its therapeutic application can be confirmed in case of long-Covid-19 patients, with a lot of other avenues of this therapy to discovered soon.

Histamine appears to be one of the most important biomarker, present in the blood that can be secreted by a neurotransmitter, or as a regulator of inflammation in action with the mast cell in the body. Histamine antagonists are very commonly used to treat several internal inflammatory diseased condition like ulcer. These antagonists are popularly known as H2 Blocker.

In the past 1 year as the world was under the blockage due to coronavirus pandemic, the scientific community was not resting at all. Immense amount of research regarding coronavirus, epidemiology, therapeutics, vaccine generation was done just to find a solution once and for all from this deadly menace.

Recently a team of scientist based in London, identified a link between histamine antagonists and their involvement in reducing long term effects of this coronavirus. The study was mainly based on a particular fact that they noticed in the T- cell response in long term Covid-19 patients and asymptomatic Covid-19 patients. Thereby extensive analysis of Cellular immune response of both the group of patients, were done for an in-depth knowledge regarding the mechanism.

A group of this patients states that they experienced mild increase in their CRP (Creative protein) and ESR (Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate). Although therapeutic intervention with these H1 and H2 anti-histamines effectively lowered the burden of the disease in most of the patients. Flow Cytometric (FC), analysis were done further, which reveals significant reduction in the circulation of Effector T-Cells as well.

Although this distinguishable T-cell concentration was found in the long –Covid-19 patients after anti-histamine treatment, as compared with asymptomatic patients; clear therapeutic reference with histamine receptor antagonists, were poorly understood. Thus, from this overall study anti-histamine and its therapeutic application can be confirmed in case of long-Covid-19 patients, with a lot of other avenues of this therapy to discovered soon.
