Asda has launched a new range of limited-edition cheese products aimed at meeting changing consumer flavour trends.
As social media trends continue to grow, with #CheeseTok recently gaining popularity, Asda looks to boost summer party, barbecue, and charcuterie board offerings.
As demand for distinctive and premium cheese experiences increases, Asda's new introductions feature the British Cheddar with Sweet Roast Garlic and Yorkshire Wensleydale with Mango & Ginger.
Launch of these products is part of a wider trend towards exciting new flavour combinations that tempt adventurous tastes.
Market insights indicate that garlic-flavoured cheese is experiencing a surge in popularity, evidenced by a 2,000% increase in searches for Asda’s Garlic & Herb Cheese Blend following a viral social media post.
Matthew Forde, Asda’s product development manager for cheese, commented: “We decided to bring this limited-edition product into our cheese range because we know that Asda customers go absolutely wild for garlic”.
The new variant cheddar, costing £2.50 for a 200g wedge, marries the richness of cheddar and the sweetness of roast garlic jam in order to tempt consumers in search of strong flavours.
Based on coherent market insights, the cheddar cheese industry is projected to expand at a significant CAGR throughout the forecast period of 2025-2032. Market size is projected to expand at a notable rate during the study period. Market size is influenced by health benefits related to the intake of cheddar cheese.
Also new to the Yorkshire Wensleydale range is the Mango & Ginger variant, which, at £1.99 for a 200g wedge, brings a welcome summer's breath of fresh air to more traditional cheese options.
Forde pointed out that the combination of sweet mango and warming ginger enhances the mild, crumbly texture of Wensleydale to deliver a 'savoury' experience likely to appeal to customers seeking summer-friendly cheese options.
Imagine a sweet, fruity topping for your cheeseboard," he continued, pointing to the product's upmarket potential as a lighter alternative to party cheese mixes.
In June, the retailer also introduced a range of Cheese Burger Melts with top flavour trends like Hot Honey and Scotch Bonnet Chili.
These are grilling-added products that complement the grilling experience and are therefore well-suited for summertime barbecues. The burger melts, costing £2.00 per 100g pack, are suited to meet varied consumer tastes and are recommended as a neat solution to add flavor to grilled meats.
