Eggo - owned by Kellanova - has introduced three new products to its protein breakfast portfolio in the US. These products are designed to cater to the growing demand for easy-to-eat, protein-packed breakfast foods that don't sacrifice taste.
The three most recent additions are Buttermilk Vanilla Protein Waffles, Vanilla Protein Pancakes, and Blueberry Protein Pancakes. This range expands on the breakfast brand's protein breakfast offerings, which include last year's two additions: Chocolate Chip Brownie Protein Waffles and Strawberry Delight Protein Waffles.
Each offers 20% of the reference daily intake (RDI) of protein, making Eggo the only leading waffle brand to achieve this, according to the brand.
Alicia Mosley, Vice President of Frozen Food Marketing at Kellanova, said, "We've focused on taste first while empowering families with an excellent source of complete protein in every bite. They are also shocked that their protein waffles and pancakes could taste like they do, but Eggo has proven you can fuel your morning with deliciousness everyone loves."
Eggo indicated the products contain all essential amino acids, and they are "easy to prepare" compared to the standard way people may prepare a meal. The waffles will be ready from a toaster, and pancakes can be microwaved when every second counts on busy mornings.
As per Coherent Market Insights, the alternative protein industry is expected to grow at a 7.4% compound annual growth rate from 2025 - 2032. In 2025, the market is projected to be USD 17.66 Bn, and in 2032, to be just under USD 50 Bn!
The new protein waffles and pancakes have hit store shelves at US retailers, priced at $5.99 for a ten-pack of waffles or a 12-pack of pancakes.
