Emerson, a global leader in automation, announced that it is adding more AI features to its test software. The new AI, called Nigel™, can now made code be using prompts in the NI LabVIEW+ Suite. This makes the NI platform a complete AI-ready test automation system. These improvements will aid companies in aerospace, semiconductors, transportation, as well as other critical industries to develop, test, deliver products faster, etc., while keeping them safe and reliable.
Nigel AI is designed for test engineering. The updates, coming later in 2026, will help engineers speed up test development while keeping control and transparency. Nigel AI will also work with other Emerson software, like NI FlexLogger™, NI InstrumentStudio™, NI TestStand™, and NI SystemLink™, giving guidance throughout the testing procedure.
The NI platform integrates modular hardware, open software, as well as scalable data systems. By adding AI into everyday engineering tools, Emerson helps teams work faster and make better decisions without losing accuracy or reliability. In internal tests, Emerson engineers have used Nigel to cut test development time from days or hours to minutes.
At the NI Connect keynote, companies like NVIDIA, Alstom, Valeo, Zap Energy, and Cyth Systems shared how they use Emerson’s NI test and measurement tools to speed up the development of new products.
According to coherent market insights, the Industrial Automation Market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 9.7% during 2026 to 2033. Currently, the market is at USD 261.23 Bn in 2026 and is expected to be around USD 455.26 Bn by 2033. Global industrial automation market growth is driven by rapid digitalization and rising adoption of industrial internet of things (IIoT) based solutions across industries. The key trend in the industrial automation market has been increasing investments by manufacturers in adoption of advanced robotics and IoT based technologies to drive productivity and operational efficiency.
"The NI platform has evolved through every major shift in technology, continually improving how test engineers reach their goals," said Ritu Favre, president of Emerson's test and measurement business. "As AI reshapes product development, it's this adaptability that allows our AI-ready platform to stand out. The real strength of the NI platform isn't any single capability; it's in the integration of hardware, software, data and ecosystem that engineers can rely on as technology continues to evolve."
