Gangwon Province in South Korea launched a set of marketing products in collaboration with Samyang Foods to boost both tourism and the food industry. This launch is part of their effort to promote the region under the theme "Gangwon Visiting Year." The products combine local culture and K-food, following an agreement made in April between Gangwon Province and Samyang's Wonju plant.
The marketing items include picnic sets with a mat, cooling bag, spoon set, and mug cup, all featuring the well-known "Gangwon-i Speciali" character. There are also K-food items from Samyang and even a smartphone grip for promotional use.
This initiative is not just about marketing, it’s part of a bigger plan to connect food tourism with the development of the region. By combining the area’s natural beauty as well as rich culture with its unique food, Gangwon Province is creating a special tourism experience that mixes nature, adventure, and local cuisine. The goal is to attract international visitors and boost the local economy through food tourism.
Gangwon Province and Samyang Foods are expanding their partnership by working on new products using buldak sauce, one of Samyang’s most popular products. They will sign a new agreement on December 24, 2025, in order to develop exciting new food items that blend Gangwon's flavors with Samyang's hot sauces.
