Hitachi Energy teamed up with Blackstone Energy Transition to enhance power infrastructure services across North America. In this agreement, Hitachi Energy will acquire a minority stake in Shermco, a company recently acquired by Blackstone, to enhance maintenance, repair, as well as testing services for critical power infrastructure.
The partnership will integrate Hitachi Energy’s grid technology expertise, Blackstone’s investment strength, and Shermco’s extensive field service network in the US and Canada. Both of them together aim to deliver comprehensive lifecycle support across transmission and data centers, as well as industrial electrification.
The company is investing over USD 1 B globally in its service business to expand its footprint, launch new digital service solutions like HMAX Energy, and train over 5,000 additional service experts globally.
As power grids get older and more things run on electricity, this partnership aims to make the grid in North America stronger, safer, and more sustainable.
Executive Statement
According to Andreas Schierenbeck, CEO of Hitachi Energy, investing in Shermco enables Hitachi Energy infrastructure to expand service capabilities across North America, helping customers maintain and extend asset life while making the grid stronger, more resilient, and fit for the future.
According to Wolf Mueller, Managing Director of Hitachi Energy’s Service Business, by combining Hitachi Energy’s grid expertise and digital solutions with Shermco’s nationwide presence, they will set a new benchmark for electrical infrastructure services.
