HYUNDAI WIA announced that it will focus on two main areas to grow its business: robots and automotive thermal management.
At a press event during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026 in Las Vegas on January 7th, the company shared this new growth plan.
First, HYUNDAI WIA said it will invest more in its robot business, following the overall AI and robotics strategy of Hyundai Motor Group. At CES, the company introduced its new robot brand "H-Motion" and showed off several types of robots, including autonomous mobile robots (AMR), parking robots, and collaborative robots.
The second area HYUNDAI WIA highlighted for growth is automotive thermal management. They revealed three new products: an integrated thermal management module (ITMS), a cooling module, and a slim HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system).
The ITMS helps manage heat in vehicles in different ways, like cooling the battery and motor, and heating or cooling the cabin. HYUNDAI WIA improved the product by reducing the number of parts by 30% and making it more space-efficient. The cooling module is now 20% thinner and 7% lighter than before, while the slim HVAC is more energy-efficient and 30% shorter in height.
Executive Statement
According to Baek Ik-jin, executive director of HYUNDAI WIA's Mobility Solutions Division, they are developing a structure in which logistics robots and collaborative robots work together. Through this, they plan to contribute to the group's 'dark factory' strategy. Recently, Chinese robot companies have secured strong price competitiveness based on mass production. They are differentiating ourselves with a strategy of providing integrated solutions rather than simply selling robots.
