Lazy Summer Dinners Made Easy with Ajinomoto Frozen Dumplings. Summer is here, and that means relaxing days by the pool and easy dinners. “Lazy” doesn’t mean boring, it means smart and simple.
A freezer favorite for quick dinners is frozen dumplings. Even chefs keep them on hand, and they can be used in many ways, not just soup or noodles. You can add them to casseroles, salads, or other meals.
Ajinomoto, a popular Japanese dumpling brand, came to the U.S. last year with two gyoza flavors. Now, they’re back with two new frozen dumplings for easy summer dinners.
The new dumplings include:
- Sweet & Spicy Chili Pork & Chicken Gyoza – a mix of pork and chicken with ginger, garlic, and sweet-spicy chili sauce. Comes with a sauce packet and 17g of protein per box. Steams in 7 minutes or microwaves in under 3 minutes.
- Japanese Jumbo Chicken Shumai – a bigger, tasty chicken dumpling.
Quick, tasty, and perfect for easy summer meals!

Ajinomoto’s new Japanese Jumbo Chicken Shumai are bigger than regular shumai, about two to three bites each. Each box has nine dumplings and a soy-vinegar sauce packet. They have 20 grams of protein and a mix of chicken, shiitake mushrooms, bamboo shoots, and water chestnuts for a tasty umami flavor.
You can cook them in the microwave, air fryer (ready in 9 minutes), or steam them (17 minutes), but microwave or air fryer is faster for a lazy summer dinner.
Both the new shumai and gyoza cost $7.99 per box. They are available now at Albertsons and Ahold stores, with more stores coming this summer. At under $8, they are cheaper and easier than takeout.
