Inside Travel has launched a new self-guided trip called 'Korea by Rail.' It connects South Korea from the capital to the coast, using the growing high-speed ITX train network.
The 13-day trip is the first to use South Korea's Donghae rail line, which opened earlier this year. The new line connects Gangneung to Busan, making it easy for travelers to travel around the country from Seoul to the east coast and back by train, something that wasn’t possible before.
Created by Inside Travel’s experts on South Korea, 'Korea by Rail' offers a chance for a deeper cultural experience.
The new rail trip also allows travelers to explore some of South Korea's lesser-known gems. Beyond the popular cities like Seoul and Busan, passengers will have the opportunity to visit places like Gangneung, offering a unique local experience with beautiful beaches, mountains, and a rich coffee culture. This trip offers a true taste of Korea.
Executive Statement
According to Inside Travel senior South Korea product executive Rebecca Barry, they are really excited to launch this new itinerary that connects travellers across the country from the modern buzz of Seoul to the heritage heart of Gyeongju and the seaside spirit of Busan without the need for private transfers or domestic flights. The train line not only provides a responsible way of travelling, but it is also a beautiful journey and how the locals do it. Now, they areable to weave Gangneung into a multi-city itinerary – a destination long loved by locals but largely overlooked by international travellers. The area is known within Korea for its beaches, mountains, coffee culture, tofu and deep-rooted cultural traditions that showcase another side of the country that not many visitors get to experience.
