LG Display has announced that it is the first company to receive cybersecurity certification for automotive displays, showing its leadership in the growing field of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs).
The certification was given by UL Solutions, a global safety expert, under the ISO-SAE 21434:2021 standard, which focuses on cybersecurity in road vehicles. This certification applies to LG Display’s latest Automotive OLED displays, which will go into mass production next year.
The certification ensures that LG Display’s displays are designed with security measures to prevent hacking, from the development phase through production and beyond. This will help the company remain competitive in global product offers.
To achieve this, LG Display set up a dedicated cybersecurity team and improved its security systems to protect users. The certification will also help the company cater to the escalating need for secure displays in Software-Defined Vehicles.
As automotive displays become more important for connecting a car’s software with the driver, the need for strong cybersecurity is increasing. LG Display plans to use this certification to enhance its product development and production systems.
Executive Statement
According to Kwon Geuk‑sang, Head of Auto Business Group at LG Display, this initiative reflects their commitment to responding promptly to customer needs and delivering differentiated value. They will continue to strengthen their leadership in the premium automotive display industry.
