Manus, a platform for growing bio-based alternatives, and Tate & Lyle PLC, a global leader in ingredients for healthier food and drinks, have announced the launch of Yume™, a new brand under The Sweetener Alliance. The name Yume comes from the Japanese word for "dream," and the brand aims to change how we experience sweetness using both science and nature.
This partnership, announced a year ago, focuses on making sugar-reduction solutions more accessible. The first product under the Yume brand is Yume™ M Stevia Sweetener, a high-quality stevia sweetener that tastes like sugar.
Yume™ M Stevia is made at Manus’ BioFacility in Augusta, Georgia, which is the only large-scale stevia production site in the U.S. Yume M benefits from Manus’ strong supply chain across the Americas, ensuring a reliable and traceable supply, and helping to drive future stevia innovations.
As per Coherent Market Insights, the Food Sweetener Market will grow at a 2.4% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) from 2025 to 2032, from USD 95.66 Bn in 2025 to around USD 113.01 Bn by 2032. The food sweetener market is witnessing positive trends that are expected to drive the market growth during the forecast period. The rising health consciousness among consumers and growing demand for low-calorie sugar-free food products is supporting the growth of natural and low-calorie sugar substitutes like stevia and monk fruit extracts.
“Yume brings together nature’s promise and Manus’ biomanufacturing capability to deliver a new standard in sweetness,” says Ajikumar “Aji” Parayil, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Manus. “With Yume™ sweeteners, we are translating next-generation industrial biotechnology and bioalternatives into commercially scalable sweetener solutions. Partnering with Tate & Lyle helps us accelerate global adoption by combining Manus’ bioalternative products, scale-up platform, and supply-chain traceability with Tate & Lyle’s formulation expertise and market access. Together, we are bringing cost-competitive, scalable products to consumer brands looking to reduce sugar without compromising taste.”
"The Sweetener Alliance, our strategic partnership with Manus launched a year ago, is a clear example of Tate & Lyle’s science driven, solutions-focused approach at work,” says Nick Hampton, CEO, Tate & Lyle. Our partnership accelerates the growth of ingredients that meet society’s evolving nutrition needs and industry’s growing need for security of supply. Yume™ M Stevia – our all-Americas stevia Reb M – gives our customers expanded access to innovative, cost-competitive sugar-reduction solutions.”
