Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) confirmed that in its Fiscal Year 2026 (April 2026–March 2027), it will introduce two new vehicles in the U.S., a battery-electric (BEV) model (previously announced) and an off-road-focused version of its Outlander SUV.
Last May, the brand unveiled its U.S. growth strategy, called Momentum 2030—to its dealer network. Since then, it’s been steadily bringing that plan to life, beginning with the rollout of the new 2025 Outlander. Today’s announcement underscores the strength and momentum behind that roadmap.
Following its May 7 BEV announcement, update confirms the second new model will be an off-road-focused version that reaffirms Mitsubishi’s legacy in off-road and off-highway driving. MMNA previously launched an Outlander Trail Edition, and this new variant will build on that, adding rugged bodywork, off-road drive modes and performance enhancements, and distinctive interior materials.
It will push the company’s famed Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) system, shaped by Mitsubishi’s 12 Dakar Rally wins and World Rally Championship history, to deliver even greater capability, letting families go further beyond the pavement.
Executive Statement
According to Mark Chaffin, MMNA's president and CEO, two exciting announcements to discuss upcoming vehicle launches prove the strength of their Momentum 2030 business plan, plus the hard work and commitment from their colleagues at Mitsubishi Motors Corporation in Japan and their dealer partners across the U.S. When they announced their Momentum 2030 plan publicly, they set ambitious goals for them. The plan is underway right now, with the new 2025 Outlander already on sale, with an updated Outlander Plug-in Hybrid coming soon, the debut of a new mild-hybrid powertrain in the 2026 Outlander and with today's announcements of two more all-new vehicles coming in fiscal year 2026. This is just the beginning, with more new vehicles and more news coming.
