Nestlé has been selected to join an exciting new AI initiative led by Harvard University’s Digital Data Design Institute and Microsoft. This partnership shows Nestlé’s strong commitment to using artificial intelligence (AI) throughout its entire business, from sourcing ingredients to delivering finished products.
For Nestlé, AI isn’t just a small-scale project; it’s highly embedded in every part of their operations. In procurement, it helps examine contracts with various suppliers. In manufacturing, AI-powered digital twins improve energy utilization, product quality, along with food safety. In research and development, AI tools help understand costs, nutrition, as well as sustainability when creating new products.
Every day, over 100,000 employees at Nestlé use AI not only to analyze data but also to make new insights as well as improve decision-making. With tools like Copilot Chat, employees can automate tasks and speed up their work.
As part of this project with Harvard and Microsoft, Nestlé will work on large-scale experiments with other leading companies like Barclays, Levi’s, and Mastercard. The goal is to create new ways of working where humans as well as AI can work together smoothly.
Nestlé’s CIO, Chris Wright, believes the way to success is using AI to solve real business problems, giving employees easy-to-use tools, as well as building a strong data and technology foundation.
This step shows that Nestlé is not just a food company but a "Frontier Firm" using AI-driven transformation to unlock new levels of productivity, innovation, and green technology & sustainability for the future.
