OpenAI has unveiled ChatGPT Pulse, a new feature designed to proactively deliver personalized daily updates to users. This development marks a significant advancement in the intelligent virtual assistant, where AI-driven assistants are evolving from reactive tools to proactive agents.
Pulse runs in the background overnight, analyzing a user’s chats, feedback, connected apps and stated interests to generate a curated set of updates each morning.
As per product announcement of OpenAI, Pulse can draw on linked services such as Gmail and Google Calendar to surface relevant suggestions, like drafting a meeting agenda, offering dinner ideas, or highlighting local events.
This innovation also intersects with the artificial intelligence (AI) robots, as the capabilities demonstrated by ChatGPT Pulse align with the functionalities expected of next-generation AI-powered robots. The ability to analyze user data and provide timely, personalized updates is a step toward more intelligent and autonomous robotic systems.
Each update appears as a visual card that can be scanned quickly or opened for more details.
The company focused that topics shown in Pulse undergo safety checks and that all integrations are optional and can be disabled at any time.
Early users can guide the service by giving thumbs-up or thumbs-down feedback, or by requesting specific areas of interest, such as travel plans or sports updates.
Executive Statement
According to OpenAI Chief Executive Sam Altman wrote on X, they are launching their favorite feature of ChatGPT so far, called Pulse. It is initially available to Pro subscribers. Think of treating ChatGPT like a super-competent personal assistant. Sometimes people ask for things they need in the moment, but if they share general preferences, it will do a good job for you proactively.
