Sentry has launched Size Analysis, a new tool to help mobile application developers monitor and reduce the size of their iOS and Android apps.
As apps grow over time, it can be hard for developers to see what's making them larger or how to stop it. Larger apps can hurt things like download rates, because of more uninstalls, and slow down performance, especially for users with slow internet or older devices.
Size Analysis helps by showing exactly what parts of the app (like code or resources) are making it bigger. Developers can set size limits as well as get alerts when changes make the app too large. The tool also gives recommendations to keep the app smaller, like finding duplicate files or unoptimized images.
The tool is built on technology from Emerge Tools, which Sentry bought in May 2025. Companies like Tinder, Spotify, and Square already use Emerge Tools to manage app size, and Sentry's version adds it directly to their developer workflow.
This launch shows Sentry's focus on helping developers catch problems earlier, even before the app is released.
Executive Statement
According to Max Topolsky, product manager at Sentry, knowing total app size is one thing. Size Analysis goes further by showing what changed, why it matters and what to do about it, so teams can make informed tradeoffs instead of guessing.
According to Milin Desai, CEO of Sentry, to deliver great mobile experiences at scale, teams need end-to-end visibility into quality across the entire app lifecycle. Size Analysis strengthens Sentry’s mobile platform by helping teams address app size as a core quality concern, not an afterthought.
