Airbus opened a Tech Hub in Daejeon, Korea, to drive research and innovation. Located in the heart of Korea’s R&D area, the hub will focus on three main areas: developing future energy technologies, creating lightweight composites, and advancing defense and space technologies.
The Tech Hub is a partnership with the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Resources (MOTIR) and Daejeon Metropolitan City. Airbus has also signed three agreements to speed up its projects: one with MOTIR to launch research quickly, one with Daejeon City to support the hub’s work, and one with the Korea International Trade Association (KITA) to find new partners.
At the launch, Airbus announced projects with LIG Nex1 to develop space chip antennas and with EMCoretech to create technologies for electrification and electromagnetic interference suppression.
The Airbus Tech Hub in Korea is supported by the opening of Airbus’ new Composite Technology Centre (CTC) in Busan. The CTC will work with Busan Techno Park to research and develop advanced materials and processes for aerospace.
Korea becomes the fourth location in Airbus' global network of Tech Hubs, joining existing centers in Japan, the Netherlands, and Singapore. These hubs aim to encourage collaboration between industry leaders, universities, government agencies, and startups to advance aerospace technology.
