Amazon and Google introduced a new service to help meet the growing need for reliable internet connections. This service allows businesses to quickly create private, high-speed connections between Amazon’s and Google’s cloud platforms, reducing setup time from weeks to just minutes.
The service was launched shortly after an Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage in October 2025, which caused major disruptions to websites and apps, including Snapchat and Reddit. This outage led to losses of up to USD 650 million for U.S. companies.
The new service combines AWS’s Interconnect and Google Cloud’s Cross-Cloud Interconnect to improve how networks work together. Google Cloud’s Rob Enns explained that this network will make it easier for businesses to move data and applications between different cloud services. Salesforce is one of the first companies to use this new service.
Tech companies like Alphabet (Google), Microsoft, and Amazon are spending billions of dollars to build stronger internet infrastructure. This is because the demand for computing power is growing quickly, especially with the rise of artificial intelligence services.
Amazon’s cloud business had strong growth in the third quarter, making $33 billion in revenue, which is more than double Google’s cloud revenue of $15.16 billion.
Executive Statement
According to Robert Kennedy, vice president of network services at AWS, this collaboration between AWS and Google Cloud represents a fundamental shift in multicloud connectivity.
