Great Gums Inc. unveiled its bioelectric toothbrush in the U.S. This new oral care device uses safe microcurrents to help remove plaque from hard-to-reach areas that regular toothbrush bristles can’t clean effectively.
Clinical studies show that the bioelectric method is six times better at removing plaque in deep, hard-to-reach parts of the mouth compared to traditional brushing. These studies also found a 75% improvement in gum inflammation after regular use.
Research from Yonsei University College of Dentistry also showed a 75% improvement in gum health. The technology behind the toothbrush was developed by Dr. Young Wook Kim during his research at the University of Maryland.
Oral health is a major global issue, with the World Health Organization estimating that around 3.5 billion people suffer from oral diseases, mainly due to poor plaque removal. Despite many innovations over the years, both manual and electric toothbrushes still struggle with this problem.
Great Gums Inc. is based in San Francisco and was founded by Mark Goldstein and Young Wook Kim. The company is focused towards working on oral health through scientifically proven solutions, utilizing technology developed with the University of Maryland as well as Columbia University College of Dental Medicine.
