Local Bounti Corporation, a U.S. indoor farming company, has announced that it will start selling a group of six types (SKUs) of its locally grown leafy green vegetables in Harris Teeter stores. Harris Teeter is a major grocery chain in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic region of the United States.
This rollout will cover all of Harris Teeter’s more than 250 stores. It will help Local Bounti increase its presence in the region and improve its sales channels.
Harris Teeter is known for how it sells fresh and perishable foods. The company uses special store displays like its “Farmers Market” style and focuses on premium-quality fresh products. It also strongly supports locally grown produce. Because of this focus on quality, Harris Teeter is a good match for Local Bounti’s leafy greens.
Local Bounti’s greens are grown using its patented “Stack & Flow Technology®.” This method helps the company grow vegetables in a controlled indoor environment. The produce reaches stores fresh and lasts longer, which is what customers looking for fresh food want.
Harris Teeter has been operating for more than 65 years. It is a fully owned subsidiary of The Kroger Co. The company follows its brand promise “In Food With Love” and works as a neighborhood grocery store.
It is headquartered in Matthews, North Carolina. It has 36,000 employees and operates more than 250 stores and 85 fuel centers across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, Maryland, Delaware, Florida, and the District of Columbia.
Local Bounti continues to grow its business by working with large retail partners and expanding its indoor agriculture operations.
According to Coherent Market Insights, the IoT in Agriculture Market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 8.7% from 2026 to 2033. Currently, the market is at USD 32.08 Bn in 2026 and is expected to be around USD 57.52 Bn by 2033. The rapid adoption of precision farming is a major growth driver, as farmers increasingly use IoT devices sensors, drones, GPS units to collect real-time data on soil, crop health, and weather. This data enables accurate input management, predictive analytics for pest/disease risks, and improved yield and resource efficiency.
"Harris Teeter has built its reputation on a genuine love of fresh food and a deep connection to the neighborhoods it serves – values that closely mirror our own," said Kathleen Valiasek, President and CEO of Local Bounti. "A placement of this scale with a blue-chip retail partner is a powerful endorsement of both our product quality and our locally grown model. Harris Teeter shoppers expect the very best in fresh, and we're honored to share the shelves with local farmers, and proud to deliver greens that reach the shelf with exceptional quality, flavor, and shelf life."
